Another Cool Generated Image

I also like this image that I created in TrippyText.com. How do you get rid of their advertisement in the corner of the image? Anyhow, this is alot of fun!

Week 5: Things 10, 11, and 12

Thing 10: I know this is a little early, but I thought this was cute, so I just had to! This process was not that easy to complete by copying the URL and pasting it into the posting with the image button. It was more doable when I copied the image to the desktop as a .jpg and then imported it.

Thing 11: I checked out LibraryThing and found it to be a very cool site! You can create an account and post your favorite books. You can also get connected with other people who have similar taste in books and check out the books on their list. You can also search Amazon., the Library of Congress and 60 other libraries. Perfect for a librarian, clerk, or booklover! I also tried eventful.com and found it to be very good in displaying performing arts events around the area. Now I know that Cats is coming to the Flint Center! :0)

Thing 12: Explored other Rollyo accounts and really liked the string theory, the LOTR, and the StarWars ones the most. I created a Rollyo account created a search roll on psychology (websites that I also stream into my Bloglines account): Psychology is the name of the Rollyo. Check it out! Next I need to create a link to my search roll. I like Rollyo! :0)

Week 4: Thing 8 and 9

Thing 8: Created a bloglines account and added 12 feeds, some being, CNN News, NPR News, Psychology Today, National Geographic, and About Psychology. I really like seeing all the information in one place!

Here is my bloglines link http://rpc.bloglines.com/blogroll?html=1&id=kepola

Thing 9: I checked out some of the search tools, like Bloglines, Feedster, and Technorati on the term, "library." I found that I preferred both Bloglines and Technorati. Feedster seemed to bring up a lot of less related stuff (personal blogs about people's ipod library, for example). However, each of them seemed fast.

Rose Garden Photo

Rose Garden Photo
Originally uploaded by pagethree.

Learning to upload photos into flickr was fun and easy! This is not the entire staff of Rose Garden, as you can tell by the small numbers, but there were a few who wanted to have their picture taken!

Koala

Koala
Originally uploaded by XEIANX.

I found this in Flickr--isn't he cute??? :0) Credit goes to Xeianx, who must have taken it Australia. Nevertheless, the photo comes from Australia, but it looked the closest to a photo that I had taken of a Koala at the San Francisco Zoo several months ago.

Week 3: Thing 5, 6, and 7

Thing 5: I decided to complete exercise a. for Thing 5 (and later I completed excercise b. also) . I posted this cute koala!!! See above :0) It took some effort to finish this task, since I had not previously imported photos to a blog. I went to Flickr and found the photo after searching for 'koalas'. Then I followed the directions in the excercise for the week, in which one can use the "blog this" button. For excercise b., I created a Flickr account, and completed I the same basic process for the Rose Garden photo, except that I had to download the photos into the group directory first, and from there I selected the photo to go into the blog. It was fun to complete!

Thing 6: About mashups...I liked the Flickr Color Pickr the best- thought it had an array of beautiful colors to chose from. Also looked at Montager, which had a lot of photos organized into a matrix-type compilation, which took forever to download! I don't think that I will use this feature very often, as I prefer to use the software on my computer, but I like the idea that I could create a collage on a photo!

Thing 7: Fun- I get to talk about technology!!! Will share my experience about going to MacWorld Expo 2007. It was fun!!! :0) It was the first time that I had gone to MacWorld, and I loved it! I saw the iphone the first day it was presented to the public--a cool experience! I would be hesitant to spend $499 on a phone (even though it has a lot of amazing features that you can't find anywhere else at this time). Most people I talk to say they will wait until the price decreases, and it does not come out until June or July anyway (see The Joy of Tech for good laughs on this topic). In the end, the iphone was cool--it has no keypad--everything is executed by touchscreen, so I took a photo of it with my current phone! :0)

Week 1: Thing 1 and 2

Thing 1: This was a nice way to "kick off" the program! First, I got to listed to a podcast about the 23 things and get a conceptual overview of the program. Then I just read that page, clicked on and read links in that page, and read the "About This" link. The sjlibrary23 blog is quite well done, and a good example for the future excercise of creating our own blog.

Thing 2: This is a draft that I will edit later, but here I will discuss which is the more difficult and which is the easiest of the habits. The more difficult for me is Habit 3: ...viewing problems as challenges. This rings true when I am overloaded with problems, because then I tend to view them as 'problems' at that point. However, this is not always the case. There are many times when I view problems as challenges, and when I do, they tend to be fun. So, I will work at improving this. In terms of easy habits, they are both Habit 1: beginning w. the end in mind and Habit 7 1/2: play. I am good as setting goals and working w. perseverance until the goal is achieved and I can play, but I should more often! :0)

Week 2: Thing 3 and 4

Thing 3: Learning 2.0 is sooooo fun! Am excited since just created my first blog and so may now consider myself high-tech, and a blogger! (as I think we all can in sjlearning 2.0) :0) Found it helpful to follow the directions in Sandra's 1.12.07 email for Learning 2.0 Week2. Was a challenge to come up with a URL for my blog as many blog names that I was interested in were taken; but, I finally got one! Is good to work as a team in learning to set up blogs (someone showed me 'how to' and I did the same for other colleagues). Rememeber, we are colleagues in learning 2.0! :)

Thing 4 was doable act-thanks Vertual Services Team for registering my blog, for the nice e-message, and the comment!!! You are making blogging a fun activity!
